All About Mrs. Moody!
My name is Bridget Moody and I am the Middle School teacher at St. James Catholic School in Augusta, Kansas. This is my ninth year of teaching at St. James and my tenth year of my teaching career. My first year of teaching was at St. Patrick in Chanute, Kansas as a first grade teacher, and before that, I student-taught in a Kindergarten classroom at St. Peter the Apostle, Schulte, Kansas.
I was adopted at birth to my two wonderful parents, Steve and Mary Yates of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was raised in Tulsa and attended Catholic schools all my life, even in Pre-school! I attended grade school at All Saints Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Kelley High School. I graduated from college from Newman University in May 2010 with my teaching degree. Since my freshman year of college, I knew I wanted to teach Kindergarten after I taught swimming lessons to the four and five year olds at the East YMCA. Seeing their nervousness and excitement to learn, complete self-reliance in you to help them stay above the water, and the magic of them finally learning how to swim without my help from the scary slide to the wall, was when I knew this age group was special. They stole my heart and I am so glad they did!
I firmly believe it was my Catholic education that planted the seeds of faith in me as a young child and it grew in fruition at the end of my High-school career. I was spending my young years going through the motions of my faith until I started teaching it at P.S.R. with a group of high-school students. Once I realized how much my faith was important, I volunteered and joined anything that could enrich my faith at Church. I was active in my church's youth group, sang in a Praise and Worship Band, and enrolling in the Dead Theologians Society where we learned about the Saints. I took that fervent spirit and "ran with it" into college and continued to grow and share my faith with others.
In the Diocese of Wichita, we have many opportunities that most Catholic dioceses do not, which is directly correlated to the Stewardship model of Faith. Before coming to Wichita, I had never heard of Perpetual Adoration, the Atrium, Daily Mass, the March for Life, the Liturgy of the Hours prayer, the St. Michael the Archangel Prayer, the Memorare prayer, The Angelus prayer, etc. I believe the Catholic faith is very rich in this Diocese and the children in this Diocese are given more opportunities to learn and grow about their faith then most dioceses. We are extremely blessed to be in such a great Catholic diocese and a great Catholic school.
Thank you for choosing St. James Catholic School for your child's earliest formation as a young child of God. It is my prayer to plant the seeds of faith in your child and I feel so blessed to be a part of their educational and spiritual formation.
In Christ,
Mrs. Moody

Fun Facts:
I spent the summer babysitting Leo, a 5 year old with Down Syndrome. We had a fun summer making slow-motion videos and lots of sno-cones!
I have a puppy named Coco Chanel. She is a Chi-weenie and has red fur and black nails! She has a sister named Pebbles (white chihuaha mix). I'm trying to convince Bryan to buy me a "Fruity."
I'm engaged now. My fiance, Bryan, is working at AeroSpace Controls Corp. in Wichita and we plan to get married June 1st, 2019. I can't wait to be Mrs. Moody.
My hobbies include: making corded Rosaries, shopping, singing karaoke (not so well sometimes), playing billiards, reading Nicholas Sparks novels, listening to the Bobby Bones radio show, and Zumba dance fitness.
My favorite animal is penguins.
I have an obsession with peacock feathers, I will probably have a peacock themed wedding.
My favorite children's author is Mo Willems.
I used to sing in Newman University's Chorale. I even was in the chorus of their Spring Musical.
I played on an undefeated national competitive volleyball team comprised of the top athletes of local high-schools. But now, Miss Yates has to admit she is afraid of the ball when she plays now!
I love Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera Broadway Musicals.
I used to lifeguard and teach swim lessons. I teach swim lessons every summer in people's backyards.
I know how to play the piano (I can still play Fur Elise)!
My Goddaughter is former St. James 2nd Grade teacher, Mrs. Forbes' daughter Katie.
I do not know how to cook very well. I burned brownies so bad one time I couldn't even chisel it out of the pan!
All of my clothes and jewelry come from Maurices. I am on first-named basis with 3 of the stores around Wichita.
I've been to 40 weddings that I can remember. I've been a bridesmaid in 7 (lime green, hot pink, you name it, I've worn it).
I like to plan parties. I helped decorate Mr. Guy's wedding and planned all the bridal showers, baby showers, etc. from the school. My favorite theme was a Harry Potter Bridal Shower.
I have been a human sundae at Totus Tuus. See pictures below...
